So, in case you are wondering what new developments have occurred in the saga of CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) vs Udta Punjab, well, after the producers of 'Udta Punjab' moved the Bombay High Court, CBFC finally communicated the official letter informing about the cuts in the film.
Now, the producers have appealed to the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to resolve the matter quickly.
By the way, the cuts demanded by CBFC from 'Udta Punjab' include deleting the name of a dog in the film called Jacky Chain, deleting a board that mentions Punjab in the beginning and any other mention of Punjab in the film including Jalandhar, Chandigarh etc and also, deleting a scene in which Tommy Singh is urinating into the crowd.
As the battle heats up, it remains to be seen whether 'Udta Punjab' will see light of the day and release as slated on June 17th, 2016.
*P.S. everyone knows about the film now and to which state it focuses on, so would changing the name or deleting the word Punjab do any good* *food for thought*
